Things I'm Loving: This Week

1.) First of all, it's Friday! Oh, how I love Fridays and all of the promise they hold for the weekend. I also love that I typically get a WOOHOO text from both my husband and best friend before I even start the work day.
I must say though, this week really hasn't been too rough, especially since my brother and my dad came in for a mid-week visit. They brought Christmas presents and took us to dinner. Certainly can't complain about that!

2.) We are having a couples' night in San Antonio this weekend, complete with a night's stay at a Riverwalk hotel and a Randy Rogers concert at the always-classy Cowboys Dance Hall.
This place cracks me up, some people really love their Texas Country music! I also like to give Jon trouble because there was a time in his life when he was in cahoots with one of Cowboy's lady bartenders. I use the word "lady" loosely, as she worked the tequila-only bar. I just like to tease him for sport.

The Randy Rogers Band has long been one of my favorite TX Country bands. It took awhile for Jon to come around, but he can now appreciate their "raw twang" (his words - not mine). This is probably our favorite RRB song and it was on our joint deployment play-list for obvious reasons.

"In My Arms Instead"

3.) Our Christmas cards should arrive via FedEx today! My friend Michelle designed them. I do love having a graphic designer in my social circle. I'm so excited to send them out - I have already addressed the envelopes in preparation.
4.) Our new neighbors brought over a candle, kitchen towels, and a few other Christmas goodies to welcome us to the neighborhood. I'm certainly loving this new living situation. As a result of my desperate need for approval, I went on a baking spree and made 8 dozen peanut butter cookies, so that we could return the favor...and keep 7 dozen cookies for ourselves. So generous.

5.) On Thursday, Jon and I had to make a trip up to Ft. Hood. My friend Kerri tipped us off to a light-bulb giveaway on post (okay, it sounds lame when I actually type it out, but halogen bulbs sure are expensive!). I guess they are trying to encourage military folks to use the new high-efficiency lights.

While I was waiting in line for my goodie-bag of wattage, I got suckered into a television interview. Don't ask me how, I blacked out I suppose. I think I remember saying something about how my biggest concern was saving money, not making a smaller environmental foot-print. Really?? WHY did I say that??!! I was being honest at least, but I definitely could have phrased it differently.

Luckily, we don't live in the immediate area so I didn't have to watch myself on the news, but Kerri caught a couple of screen-shots for me.

I love that they got a nice zoom shot of my ring, along with my chubby fingers, and my week-old, chipping nail polish.

6.) I am totally loving this new "Grove Court Lainey" bag by Kate Spade right now.
The candy-apple red really does it for me. Unfortunately, since I'm on the cutting-edge of fashion, the bag can not be found anywhere for any less than retail. Le sigh.

Please see my scheming text to Jon in regards to the purse (pathetic)...also note his response.
Guess I'll be getting a steam-vac for Christmas this year.

Cheers to the weekend!

All My Love,
Jessica
