Wedding Wednesdays {Rehearsal}

Now that we have wedding weekend pictures in hand, I couldn't wait to start sharing with y'all! In Tandem did an incredible job with the photography. In order to avoid over-stimulation, I'll be posting these photos in sections each Wednesday. Chronologically, we are starting with the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It was the perfect Friday filled with sun on lawn of the Austin Four Seasons, long-lost friends, killer toasts and some delicious food at Z'Tejas. Alright, I'll stop talking now and let you enjoy.

Busy Meets Lazy

This weekend was the perfect mix of crazy and relaxed. As I write this post, I have a snoring puppy and relaxing husband (well, he's not exactly relaxing, he is reading furiously to finish Hunger Games before I steal it, as I have threatened to do on several occasions).

After work on Friday, Jon and I both came home in a frenzy to pack up and head down to San Antonio for the Randy Rogers gig. Kelly's dear parents offered to watch Buddy and Baxter (K&K's little English Bulldog), allowing us to party hardy in true San Antonio form- Tex-Mex, margaritas, Dos-Equis, the works.

We made a quick stop at the hotel after dropping the pups like hot-cakes. This place was bizarre. The building itself must have been really old because the floors slanted in every direction and there wasn't a single straight wall in our room.

Jon and I were just a little creeped out, I blame all of the Harry Potter movies that we've been watching lately...the place was a little Hogwarts-esque.

The suite did have some sweet surround-sound though, even in the bathroom.
*bumpin'*

The stereo came complete with...an 8-track deck?

The hotel entrance was also right next to the back entrance of a hip-happening nightclub called Kremlin. There were definitely some characters coming in and out of that joint.

Kelly was particularly weirded out by the backwards "R" in the logo.
I don't blame her. I certainly have no desire to party like we are in communist Russia.

Randy definitely did not disappoint and the danchall was packed!

After the show, we all got a lot of entertainment out of the 20-year-old girls at the front entrance of the venue on their phones. Most of the conversations went something like this:

"Oh my god, I'm at the f*****g front door. It's f*****g cold! Will you please come pick me up, baby?!"

So classy. OF COURSE he's going to come pick you up, and it's not because you're drunk and your conversation closely resembles a booty-call ;).

Perhaps we should take this as a sign that we are too old for that honky-tonk, but we won't.

On Saturday, Jon and I literally slept all day after making the long trip back to Georgetown. We managed to surface long enough to go to dinner with friends at P.F. Changs. It was Jon's first time at PFC, and although I rarely question his intelligence, I gave him the stank-eye when asked what type of restaurant it was. Really?

Sunday, we set to work early on cleaning the house and organizing the garage. I was pretty proud of myself when I came up with an alternative use for our car-wash brush.
Should I put that on Pinterest? Only kidding.

Jon and I have also been snacking on these all day.
They are sugar-covered, chocolate-coated almonds. So addicting. My mother sent them to us - as a joke...I think. Last year, I ate A LOT of them when I was back home in Kansas for the holidays. When my mom found the empty box, her response was, "Did you eat ALL of the almonds?!" She knew the answer, but she definitely took a long glance at my butt at the same time she asked the question. She denies it, but I have witnesses.

I hope y'all have a wonderful week, and eat all the sweets you want! We can get our butts back into shape when 2012 comes around.

Things I'm Loving: This Week

1.) First of all, it's Friday! Oh, how I love Fridays and all of the promise they hold for the weekend. I also love that I typically get a WOOHOO text from both my husband and best friend before I even start the work day.
I must say though, this week really hasn't been too rough, especially since my brother and my dad came in for a mid-week visit. They brought Christmas presents and took us to dinner. Certainly can't complain about that!

2.) We are having a couples' night in San Antonio this weekend, complete with a night's stay at a Riverwalk hotel and a Randy Rogers concert at the always-classy Cowboys Dance Hall.
This place cracks me up, some people really love their Texas Country music! I also like to give Jon trouble because there was a time in his life when he was in cahoots with one of Cowboy's lady bartenders. I use the word "lady" loosely, as she worked the tequila-only bar. I just like to tease him for sport.

The Randy Rogers Band has long been one of my favorite TX Country bands. It took awhile for Jon to come around, but he can now appreciate their "raw twang" (his words - not mine). This is probably our favorite RRB song and it was on our joint deployment play-list for obvious reasons.

"In My Arms Instead"

3.) Our Christmas cards should arrive via FedEx today! My friend Michelle designed them. I do love having a graphic designer in my social circle. I'm so excited to send them out - I have already addressed the envelopes in preparation.
4.) Our new neighbors brought over a candle, kitchen towels, and a few other Christmas goodies to welcome us to the neighborhood. I'm certainly loving this new living situation. As a result of my desperate need for approval, I went on a baking spree and made 8 dozen peanut butter cookies, so that we could return the favor...and keep 7 dozen cookies for ourselves. So generous.

5.) On Thursday, Jon and I had to make a trip up to Ft. Hood. My friend Kerri tipped us off to a light-bulb giveaway on post (okay, it sounds lame when I actually type it out, but halogen bulbs sure are expensive!). I guess they are trying to encourage military folks to use the new high-efficiency lights.

While I was waiting in line for my goodie-bag of wattage, I got suckered into a television interview. Don't ask me how, I blacked out I suppose. I think I remember saying something about how my biggest concern was saving money, not making a smaller environmental foot-print. Really?? WHY did I say that??!! I was being honest at least, but I definitely could have phrased it differently.

Luckily, we don't live in the immediate area so I didn't have to watch myself on the news, but Kerri caught a couple of screen-shots for me.

I love that they got a nice zoom shot of my ring, along with my chubby fingers, and my week-old, chipping nail polish.

6.) I am totally loving this new "Grove Court Lainey" bag by Kate Spade right now.
The candy-apple red really does it for me. Unfortunately, since I'm on the cutting-edge of fashion, the bag can not be found anywhere for any less than retail. Le sigh.

Please see my scheming text to Jon in regards to the purse (pathetic)...also note his response.
Guess I'll be getting a steam-vac for Christmas this year.

Cheers to the weekend!

All My Love,
Jessica
