Our weekend started off wonderfully- K&K picked me up and Jon met us on his way back from San Antonio at Pluckers. Kelly & I sipped on pink vodka-lemonades and Jon got mad at me for using too many napkins. Wings are messy and I have the motor-skills of a 5-year-old, herein lies the problem. I proceeded to use even more when I dropped the paper towel roll and it spun across the floor. Perhaps I'll skip the lemonade next time ;).
When we got home, we watched the entire wedding video together for the first time. It is magical! I'd love to relive that day, at least three more times. I'm trying to figure out a way to post the Highlight Reel to ze blog- I desperately want to share it with the world.
Saturday Jon and I got up really early to transport the boat to it's new home! We went to Uhaul rented a Ford F150, came back home to hook it up to the truck, and we were on our way. We found a marina that sells old boats on commission - YES PLEASE! Little do they know, I don't care how long it takes to sell, at least we found it a safe and loving home.
I wonder if the other boats on the lot came from the school of hard-knocks too...??
After disposing of the boat, we picked up some old wicker chairs I had scooped up from Craig's List.
Can you say WEEKEND PROJECT? (we put it off til Sunday)
After we finished our "Saturday chores" we hit up old downtown Georgetown again. I had decided on a whim to decorate our mantle with antique glass bottles, so we had some
jug-shopping to do.
We found the first two pieces of our fireplace collection!
The orange jug is actually a 1862 seltzer bottle from Germany- basically the first form of bottled water...pretty cool, huh? ;) Keep your comments to yo-self please.

We also found our way into local winery and tasting room.
One glass of chocolate-cherry port plus a local duet playing Patsy Cline's "Crazy",
and we were sold.
and we were sold.
We are now official wine-club members, with souvenir wine-glasses to prove it.
Sunday, we slowly got up and around and made our trip to Lowe's. We really don't have any painting supplies so we had several basic tools to buy.
(I apologize- this was my one failed attempt to photo-document our trip to the hardware store. I then got distracted with weather-proofin' lacquer and forgot to try again...so enjoy my googly eye.)
The most tedious task was scraping the wicker with a wire brush.
We then painted on a layer of primer. It seemed counter-intuitive to basically paint the chair white before we painted it black, but we wanted to follow our YouTube tutorial perfectly to avoid any issues.
The primer dried quickly (like lightening speed) in the sun and 80-degree weather.
I love Texas weather!
They look awesome, but we plan to paint on one more layer by hand next weekend. We bought a gallon of glossy exterior paint so the chairs should be both water-proof and super-shinny when we finish!
Jon and I took it easy the rest of Sunday evening and polished off our first
wine-club "exclusive."
wine-club "exclusive."
Now it's back to work and Jon left for San Antonio early this morning :(. I have several mini-DIY projects planned for myself...let's see what I actually accomplish!
All My Love,
Jessica
