Weekend Wonder

Holy smokes, did the weekend even happen?? WHERE THE HELL DID IT GO??

Friday night and Saturday morning were spent moving K&K into their new place. Well, the guys moved and Kelly & I found every excuse in the book to remove ourselves from the situation:

1.) We went to get the group Starbucks, because OF COURSE everyone needs some overpriced caffeine to muster up enough enthusiasm to move an oversized couch down 2 flights of stars.

2.) We went to pick up their new mail-key at the post office. God forbid they miss out on all of that, "WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME" snail-mail-spam.

3.) We picked up everyone's lunch order from Jimmy John's- probably our most necessary task.

4.) We did some shopping for a bachelorette party that Kelly was hosting Saturday night.

At Party City, it quickly became apparent that I am not cut out for traditional bachelorette gigs. Jon and I had a joint bachelor/bachelorette weekend on the river with friends. It was fabulous, especially since I am not much for phallic straws and the like.

We did, however, fall in love with these Party Posse hats.

But lust quickly turned into hatred when a piece of glitter found its way under my eyelid.

I was also charged with the task of assembling the bright pink glow-bracelets on our way to the bachelorette dinner. Well, I broke bracelet #5 and the glowing goo spewed everywhere. Now Kelly's car resembles a black light investigation of a cheap hotel room.
Testing out tools of the trade.

I must admit though, while inexperienced with cold-weather clubbing, we certainly know how to pull an outfit together with a warm, cozy blazer.

The guys also went out that night to celebrate our friend's big accomplishment! Dan has been accepted into Special Forces, a very selective group within the Army.
This is Dan with Jon's dad at our wedding reception. He's already got the James Bond thing down pat. Congrats!!!

Sunday, Jon and I wrapped up the never-ending wicker project.

I found these outdoor cushions for pennies on the dollar at TJ Maxx. Jon later pointed out that they closely resemble a Lilly Pulitzer dress.

I didn't even think of that! But he is right...and I love the cushions even more now. I guess Lilly runs deep in my blood.

Have a wonderful week!

Jessica

Confession Session {January 27}

YAY for the return of Confessional Friday! Since we all know that I am a bit of hot mess 99% of the time, I've always got plenty to dish! This week was no exception:

1.) I spotted a leather-clad fellow coming home from work the other day. I immediately noticed he was riding a motorcycle identical to the one Jon used to own. Gosh, I remember just how good Jon looked on that sucker. Of course, Jon sold the bike when we first started dating after he heard my father, an emergency surgeon, rant about the dangers of motorcycling. Let's just say my dad didn't know he ever owned a motorcycle until a year after the fact.

Anyway, back to my story- for memory's sake I decided to take a picture of the bike to send to Jon.
See that there? Yep, he's looking directly at me.

He saw me take the stalker photo. And then I had sit through 2 traffic light rotations with him just staring at me...and I MEAN STARING. Of course, with the tint on his helmet visor, I couldn't judge his facial expression at all. Sooo he was either winking at me or giving me the stank eye for snapping a pic without written consent from his modeling agent. We will never know for sure.

2.) I had creamed corn for lunch this week from Rudy's...no no, I ONLY had creamed corn, by itself, for lunch on Thursday, AN ENTIRE QUART of it.
I have to drive by this place every single day on my way to work and yesterday I just couldn't take it anymore. I HAD TO HAVE some of their delicious, to-die-for, creamed corn. The worst part was- I had absolutely no shame about marching my booty in there, paying for my single styrofoam quart container, and walking out.
Would you like some sausage links with that? Perhaps a brisket sandwich to accompany your side-dish? No no, pure starch and sugar will do me just fine. Thankyouverymuch.

And while I have spent the past couple of years trying to avoid the the stereotypical corn-fed princess from the heartland image, I LOVE CORN- the creamier, the better.

3.) Moving on. Remember all those DIY projects I had planned for this week? I haven't accomplished any of them.

Actually, I take that back. I "installed" updated knobs on our antique bar.
Does that even count as DIY? I'm going to say yes.

4.) While the rest of the world is hatin' on Paula Deen, I am falling in love with her "yall"! It's not her recipes that I'm obsessed with, although I bet she could whip up a mean creamed corn. I'm totally crushing on her "Savannah Style" home decor book.
OH hey girl!

She writes about wicker, wrought-iron, and silver. Girlfriend can really
speak-a-mah-language.

Look at those silver julep cups. I need them. I need them now.

5.) Speaking of mint juleps, Jon and I have officially decided that we are going to have a Kentucky Derby party. I am already in planning mode...the Derby ain't til May 5th.

First step: find a hat.
This is classy and understated, no?

6.) In other home-decorating news (this is where I lose my entire male readership), I am totally obsessed with chevron-patterned goods these days.
I blame Etsy. And since the pattern doesn't really fit with our current home decor, I fully plan to force this trend onto my friends - bridal showers, birthdays, no one is safe. You have been warned.

7.) I wore my new "crimson" slacks from Victoria's Secret to work today and I am already developing a pants complex.
I have had three people compliment me on my clothing choice, but all three compliments were either proceeded by a "WOW!!" or followed with a "BRIGHT!!!"...I don't know....

8.)  Kelly & Kyle are buying their first home today- a GORGEOUS home! I thought I'd be cute/creative/whatever and wrap their housewarming gift in today's newspaper, the day of their official closing.

Well, here's today's Austin Statesman.
Crap.

Adios muchachos!

Wedding Wednesday {Formals}

It is in fact time for another Wedding Wednesday Thursday! I apologize for the delay, the hubby decided to make a quick trip home last night from San Antonio for some homemade dinner.
And by homemade dinner- I mean this.
Whatever- I can assure you that Jon will never complain about me making dinner, crockpot or not.

This week I'm posting the pre-ceremony formal photos. Jon and his groomsmen/ushers were able to take several pictures outside before the storm hit; however, by the time I was cinched into my white dress, it was raining cats and dogs. You'll notice that all of my photos are taken from the safety and comfort of the grand ballroom.

May I present....the best wedding party...ever. Love them dearly.

Jessica
